Epping Community Power Explains Rate Changes Starting February 1.

Epping, NH – The Epping Community Aggregation Committee (EEAC) announces new rates for Epping Community Power (ECP) effective February 1, 2025. Granite Basic rates will increase to 8.9 cents per kilowatt hour (Kwh), an increase of 3/10 cents over the rate in effect upon ECP launch. For an average homeowner, this change increases the monthly energy service cost by $1.95.

This rate contrasts with new rates set by the NH Electric Coop (NHEC) and Eversource, both also effective February 1. Those rates will change to 8.1 cents per Kwh and 8.929 cents per Kwh respectively. These changes mean that an average homeowner NHEC bill will be $5.20 lower than ECP bills. EPC and Eversource bills will be roughly equal.

ECP rates will rise again effective March 3 to 9.7 cents per Kwh. That change will make an NHEC average homeowner bill $10.40 lower and an Eversource bill $9.16 lower than ECP energy service.

A CPCNH supplier anomaly necessitated the March rate adjustment. Like all startups, CPCNH may be experiencing some growing pains. ECP will continue to work with the coalition on their mission to find the lowest possible rates for all consumers. To date, Epping ratepayers have still benefited from savings through the CPCNH program.

ECP customers served by either NHEC or Eversource have the option to opt-out of Epping Community Power by contacting CPCNH. You will need your NHEC or Eversource account number to make this change.
